The final choice as to size of implant should be entirely yours. Choose the size that YOU feel makes you look good, not what you think others may like. Dr Mayson will insert whichever size implant you desire provided that your chest can accommodate it and it does not make you look ridiculously out of proportion.
Understandably, breast implants only push forward the breast tissue you naturally have. It follows, therefore, that any given implant will produce different appearances in different women depending on the amount of breast tissue they have in the first place. Therefore, once you have an approximate idea of what cup size you would like to be, Dr Mayson will show you the various implants that can achieve the look you desire.
In practice, based on very detailed breast measurements, Dr Mayson will give you various implant shapes and sizes for you to insert into a ‘crop-top’ and compare until you find the implant that you feel produces the ‘look’ you wish to achieve.
Dr Mayson highly recommends that your objective should be to select an implant size that will produce attractive and ‘natural’ looking breasts rather than an obviously ‘fake’ appearance that can occur if you select implants that are too large and not in proportion with the rest of your body.
So, although Dr Mayson will always guide you and give you his recommendations as to size he will always leave the FINAL choice of size up to YOU. Should you wish to go larger than he would recommend, he will still insert your preferred size – provided, of course, that your tissues can accommodate it and it does not make you look ridiculously out of proportion and unnatural.
| Small Implants | Large Implants | |||
| Effect on Upper Breast Fullness | Less fullness at the upper pole of the breast | More fullness at the upper pole of the breast | ||
| Chances of Nipple Numbness | Less | Greater due to stretching of the nerves over the large implant | ||
| Contribution to Future Sagging | Less | Greater (The larger the implant, the greater the weight and ‘stretch effect’ on the supporting breast ligaments. Therefore more contributory to future sagging) |
||
| Appearance | Tend to look more natural and in proportion with the rest of your body | If too large for your body, will look out of proportion and therefore ‘fake’ |
