Your Quality Consultation With Dr Mayson Personally!
Dr Mayson strongly believes that as a prospective patient considering Breast Augmentation you have the right to be FULLY informed on ALL aspects of Breast Augmentation so that you are then able to make an informed decision as to whether or not to have the procedure.
And to be given ALL that necessary information takes a minimum of 1½ hours. This is why Dr Mayson allocates that amount of time for your Initial Consultation. Shorter consultations only mean you are not getting ALL the information you should be.
Should you prefer, Dr Mayson is happy for you to bring along your husband, partner, relative or friend to the consultation.
1. Your Consultation(s)
If you have never had a Breast Consultation with Dr Mayson, here is what you can expect:
- An Initial Consultation (approximately 1½ hours) – necessary to give you ALL the detailed information and explanations you will require to make an informed decision as to whether or not to have the procedure.
- We do not believe in ‘Nurse Consultations’: All consultations are entirely with Dr Mayson himself. After all, shouldn’t the person who’ll do your surgery be prepared to give you their time personally for the ENTIRE consultation?
- At the end you will be given a detailed Information Brochure on Breast Augmentation written by Dr Mayson to take home and read. This means that you don’t have to worry about forgetting something that was explained at your consultation because the brochure will recap what Dr Mayson has discussed and explained to you.
- A Second Consultation - up to 1 hr:
A Second Consultation – up to 1 hr. This Second Consultation serves to:
- answer any questions that may have come up since your Initial Consultation.
- take detailed chest and breast measurements.
- give you plenty of time to compare implants in a ‘Crop Top’ in an unrushed manner before making your final choice.
- formulate the surgical plan that will best meet your objectives.
For those patients seeing Dr Mayson in Sydney, please note that in special circumstances (e.g. for interstate/overseas patients, those patients travelling long distances, or those with time constraints) you may be able to have your Second Consultation on the same day as the Initial Consultation in order to avoid the inconvenience of a return trip to Sydney.
If, however, you are seeing Dr Mayson in Brisbane or Melbourne, for your convenience we merge both consultations into one extra-long Initial Consultation of around 2 hours.
2. Your Body – Your Choices!
Dr Mayson will always involve you in the overall planning of your procedure. This is because Dr Mayson believes that no one knows better than YOU how you want your breasts to finally look.
Accordingly, instead of your surgeon selecting which implants he/she thinks are the best ones for you, Dr Mayson prefers to have your input right from the start and in this way you are involved in the entire decision making process all the way through.
The six choices which Dr Mayson will ask you to select on are:
- Saline vs Silicone implants;
- Round or ‘Tear-Drop’ shaped implants;
- Textured (“Rough”), Smooth or Polyurethane Foam-Covered implant surfaces;
- Location of Incisions: under the breast, around the areola, in the armpit or through the navel;
- Position of Implant: ‘under the muscle’, ‘in front of the muscle’ or ‘dual plane’; and most importantly
- SIZE
Naturally, in order to make the above choices you will need to have all the background information on each. Rest assured, Dr Mayson will give you all the information necessary to enable you to make those choices. Naturally, this takes time and that is precisely why Dr Mayson allocates a minimum 1½ hours for your Initial Consultation. Most importantly, however, although Dr Mayson will guide you along the way, he will always leave the final choices up to you – provided of course that you are not making a decision that is not in your best interests or will produce a look that’s not right for you – in which case he will definitely tell you so!
3. Customising Your Surgery
At your Second Consultation, many detailed measurements are taken. These measurements are necessary not only for narrowing down your implant options but also to plan your surgery and ensure that the implants you eventually select are appropriate in size for your figure and that your breasts and nipples are correctly positioned over the implants and do not sit too high or too far out to the sides.
Based on those measurements, Dr Mayson will show you the various implants that can achieve the look you desire. We have a large range of implant styles, shapes and sizes for you to try in a crop-top so that you can actually visualise and compare the likely degree of correction each will give you.
Most importantly, although Dr Mayson will give you his recommendations during the implant selection process he will always leave the final choice of size up to you. However, Dr Mayson strongly recommends that you choose a size that is in proportion with your overall figure and makes you look ‘great but not fake’! To illustrate this point, take the time to look at the many magazine covers or Internet websites with before/after photographs of oversize breasts and see how these look ‘out of proportion’ and ‘unnatural’ – in other words very obviously ‘fake’ to any observer. This is what Dr Mayson strives to avoid!
